In addition to compact storage systems, closed storage systems such as vertical storage lift systems or carousel racks (paternoster) optimally meet today's requirements of automated small parts logistics, but place special demands on fire protection.
Even small fires can cause immense damage: from the interruption of logistical processes to the destruction of goods, values and even fixed assets. For managers who operate a storage lift system it is vital to their logistics processes, a fire-related incident would have an immediate negative impact on the company's operability. At WAGNER, we offer you the perfect answer with our comprehensive fire protection solutions for these storage systems.
RISK ANALYSIS
The compact design, often accompanied by dense storage of high concentrations of valuable goods, makes targeted fire extinguishing difficult. Furthermore, the large number of electrical components poses an additional fire risk due to the high degree of automation. In addition, the material of the small load carriers (polyethylene/polypropylene), the packaging (cardboard/plastic) and the stored goods themselves (flammable/self-igniting) pose further risks.

BETTER SOLUTIONS IN FIRE PROTECTION
The particularly compact storage and high material density place special demands on fire protection. We at WAGNER have therefore developed a holistic solution for automated, closed storage lift systems and paternoster racks. Thanks to highly sensitive early fire detection in combination with residue-free extinguishing, we ensure the maintenance of logistics processes and the ability to deliver for their customers worldwide.
Our highly sensitive TITANUS® aspirating smoke detectors detect the finest smoke particles at the earliest possible stage by constantly taking air samples in the protected area, thus enabling countermeasures to be initiated in good time in the event of an alarm. Our system for early fire detection is 2000 times more sensitive than conventional point-type detectors and thus detects a fire much earlier and with maximum immunity to false alarms.
The FirExting® gas extinguishing system (with the patented N2 diffuser nozzle) ensures that the protected area is flooded with nitrogen, evenly distributed in the storage system in the event of a fire. The extinguishing gas is introduced at low dynamics to minimize any possible turbulence. By using the extinguishing gas, the fire is smothered effectively and, above all, without leaving any residue and without damaging the material. Extinguishing damage to the infrastructure and stored goods, which occurs when using water-based extinguishing agents - water, spray mist, foam - as well as powder or aerosols, is avoided.
We solve the particular challenge of homogeneous distribution of the nitrogen, due to the limited spaces between the goods, with our special, space-saving N2 diffuser nozzle without any loss of storage space. This ensures that the extinguishing gas is evenly distributed at different heights within the storage system, which can be up to 30 meters high. To compensate for design-related leaks in the storage system and to ensure reliable fire protection over the holding times required by the VdS, for example, further holding floodings are initiated shortly after the build-up flooding. For this purpose, the extinguishing agent containers are triggered at intervals.
BENEFITS
Reliable protection of your goods and values from damage caused by fire using non-residual extinguishing agents.
Protection of your supply chain by ensuring uninterrupted ability to deliver.
Prevention of fire-related consequential damage and damage to image.
Thanks to their modularity, our fire protection systems can be adapted at any time and "grow" with the storage system.
By using the inert gas nitrogen, our system is environmentally friendly, residue-free and non-destructive.
